March UFO Challenge...

Here is our next UFO for March!

I will be working on Civil War Chronicles BOM...YES is a UFO. I have 3 more months to put together. I am not looking forward to working on these blocks. It was definitely a challenge for me!!!!

Tomorrow I am meeting a friend at Sew Expo...I just LOVE going to this sewing event! I won't be buying much! I have way too many fabrics and notions.

The classes I wanted to sign up for were all SOLD-OUT! I truly hate it when I procrastinate!!! So I decided to take "No Slip Pedal for Sewing Machines". Why this class? The other classes that were available were for clothing and I don't want to sew clothes! LOL  Anyway, this is a 2-1/2hr class! I hope it is good.

I also have another class on Sunday..."Fast Fused Quilts". It is a 1-1/2hr. class. It sounded interesting! We will see!

In the meantime, have a wonderful Friday & weekend! I will update on how the show went.

Happy Stitching!

UFO #10 Completed...

WHEW! I finally finished!!!!

Back in 2010, I hosted a China Doll Block Exchange. This was the longest block exchange I have ever hosted. If my memory is correct, it took 8 months to send everyone their blocks. Block exchange usually go for three months. Some ladies took longer than others but it was well worth the wait (in my opinion) because of the workmanship these women put in.

There are three dolls with no face. I am contemplating whether I should draw them in.

Dolls were created by author: Rosemary Young. She is just the most wonderful person! I am a BIG fan! I have all her books. You can find doll pattern in her book: Civil War Diary.

I have a couple of duplicate dolls in this wall hanging.

Machine appliqued using blanketstitch.

 By Cindy Temple
(You have to checkout her hair & face...AWESOME)

 Another one by Cindy Temple
Cindy hand appliqued using needle turn method and hand embroidered hair.
(Check out her hair and face...STUNNING)

 By: Micheline Prescott
(Check out her face...AWESOME! I love the little lace on her neckline)
All hand appliqued using needle turn method.

By: Rebecca Hunt
Machine appliqued dress and body was machine embroidery.
Amazing job.
By: Sheri Klaich...All hand appliqued using needle turn technique.
By: Me...all done using the needle turn method. What was the worst thing about this doll is her HAIR!!! I was so flustered that I just used Steam-A-Steam 2 for my doll. The others I hand appliqued.

Another by Judy Armfield.

for the sash and border, I used Jo Morton Jamestown fabric.

I am very please and happy that I am done with the top! YIPPEE!

Until Monday, Hope everyone have a great weekend!

Hello UFO participants,

We have exactly 10 days before the month end. WOW...were did the rest of February go???

How are you doing on your UFO #10 project? Everyone's been quiet so I am guessing working whole hard on your project and not sick!

I MUST confess! I haven't even started on my UFO #10! I have been sick. I will work on it this week. The blocks are all made, I just need to put them together.

My UFO #10  project are China Dolls. These are from Civil War Block exchange a couple years ago. They are so adorable. I still haven't decided on how to put them together. I will post a picture of them this week. Until then...

Weekend progress...

I have been working on my Grandmother's flowers for a block exchange for the Jo Morton group. We are working with 1/2" hexagons and all done in Jo Morton fabrics. These little babies are addicting!!!!

I have never made these flowers before. I always thought they were tedious. NOT! 8)  I just learned how to make these hexagon flowers earlier this month. so I just hope my work is "A-OK" for this block exchange. I have completed 17/37.

Beautiful Day! ...

Sun is out today and although there is a breeze, I decided to venture outside the backyard for some fresh air. From the corner of my eye, I saw yellow. I looked and had to run in the house to grab my camera to take some pictures. LOOK... 8)

Does this means Spring is approach very soon??? I don't ever have flowers blossoming in February!
OH trust me when I say I am not COMPLAINING! I am tired of being in the house sick!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Today I am cleaning and organizing my forever project...SEWING STUDIO! Will post pictures soon.

Saturday Progress...

I "think" I was productive but you be the judge. 8)

Friday night I was trying to find my UFO 10 "Civil War  China Dolls". I didn't find them but I did find cutout pieces for a Kaleidoscope quilt. I decided to put them together last night and here are pictures of how they turn out.

The centers did not come out perfect so I am going to make some yoyos.

Anyway, today I played around in my EQ7 to come up with a layout and I had some of my friends in a yahoo group for their opinion. I got a few votes and Sampler 1 is the winner. Here is a picture of the layout.

Now I need find green fabrics.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
