A New Project/New Block Exchange...

I decided to participate a Hexagon Flower block exchange in Jo Morton Stitchers yahoo group today. I have never made a hexagon before. I think maybe I felt it was too complicated to learn"english paper piecing". Well not anymore! LOL

After inquiring about the block exchange, host, Mary recommend I take a look at Bee in My Bonnet tutorial. So after studying tutorial, this is what I made! LOL

I need to work on my stitches. I like my hand stitches to be invisible. It was pretty easy and I actually like making these flowers.

Well I need to start making 35 of these flowers. Wish me luck! 8)

America the Beautiful Update

I thought I would get more done this past weekend. NOT! So this is all I did. With the two houses, I didn't sew them together as I am still deciding if this is a GO or NOT. 8)  I get pretty picky when it comes to blocks. As for the other photo, I still don't like the two mountains. They remind me of pyramids. Don't you think?  Someone in The Sampler Society yahoo group mentioned "maybe the Quilting will make it look like a mountain"! She is right! ... I think I know already know how to quilt this quilt! 8)

I plan to get more blocks done today. We shall see! LOL

UFO 6 - Congratulations Joanne...

For completing your UFO #6 "Monster" bag. So pretty and HUGE.

Joanne stated... "This is a "monster bag". the designer is Brenda Miller a Canadian designer. It is big enough that I could put my sewing machine and my fabric etc for a workshop day all in one spot. Might be a tad heavy but that gives you some inkling of the size".

UFO 6 - Civil War Love Letter update

I manage to get some sewing done last night. This block was a pain in the butt!!! It was paper piecing, but the pieces were REALLY small and the stars were in sections. UGH... So glad this one is done. LOL

I also sewed sash and cornerstones to the first row. So far so good.

Anyway, here is what I did.

Rosemary Youngs

I just received my copy of Rosemary Youngs new book titled "Quilts from the American Homefront". Love the blocks in this book. I think I am going to do this quilt in Patriotic colors.

Now off to do some serious sewing.

America the Beautiful

A yahoo group(The Sampler Society) is hosting "American the Beautiful" quilt that was featured Autumn 2012 McCall's America Quilts Together. We started working on our quilt January 1st. Quilt is in sections. There are 6 sections in this quilt and I finally finished the first section.

Here is a picture of magazine in case you are interested. I thought this entire magazine is great and definitely one I will keep to my book collection. Magazine also featured Designer Erin Russek. If you haven't purchased, I highly recommend getting one.
